Employer: Tongaat Hulett Sugar
The role is responsible to provide direction, standards on matters relating to SHE Management at the operational level. There is a strong emphasis on ensuring sustainable legal compliance meeting corporate requirements, maintaining alignment with SHE management systems, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and striving towards achieving ZERO HARM and SHE excellence.
• Working with all internal and external stakeholders at the milling and operations to identify and mitigate SHE risks with a purpose of preventing harm to people, property and/or the environment.
• Maintaining alignment to various SHE management systems that include ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• The co-ordination of SHE Planning and risk management within the company.
• Ensuring that SHE Management Programmes (including risk assessments, setting of objectives and targets and incident reporting and investigation reviews) are developed, effectively implemented and maintained throughout the site.
• Manage weighbridge operation and maintenance
• Comply with THS policies and procedures and legislative requirements Interact positively with employees in the workplace and build a positive culture with open and constructive communication and teamwork
• Actively contribute the business strategic ambition to have work class people and a people centric organisation.
• Oversee the operations and performance of all fire fighting equipment on site
Candidate Requirements
• A relevant tertiary qualification and appropriate experience in this field is essential, i.e. either a degree in Safety/ Health or Environmental Management.
• Relevant SHE Legal training
• 5-10 years’ experience involving the co-ordination and management of SHE related matters at management level.
• A valid driver’s license.
